Catalogue No. 9 (2008)

To celebrate the 50th anniversary of Dr. Jörn Günther Rare Books, this catalogue describes 50 masterpieces, some of which had already found new owners. The catalogue presents the oldest Western European codex in private hands, a manuscript of the Canones conciliorum from Northern Italy, made in c. 775. Among countless other highlights, it also features the Portolan Atlas by the enterprising Genoese chartmaker Battista Agnese, finalized in Venice on February 5, 1544.
