Princely Magnificence

The thirteen masterpieces in this brochure were exhibited at Ursus Rare Books in New York in January and February 1997. Among the exhibited miniatures was a Byzantian depiction of Mark the Evangelist, as well as a French miniature of Saint Catherine disputing with the philosophers of Alexandria, made in 1210. A manuscript of the Septem Psalmi Poenitentiales by Francesco Petrarca, illuminated by the Master of the David Scenes in the Grimani Breviary between 1500 and 1510 was displayed among other magnificent tomes.
