Dr. Jörn Günther
Owner
Dr. Jörn Günther is the world-leading dealer of medieval and Renaissance manuscripts with a PhD from the University of Hamburg. Since 1990, Dr. Günther sells to libraries, museums and private collectors and helping them building high-quality collections. In 2009, he opened his gallery in Basel’s historic Old Town.

Heikedine Günther
Art Director
Heikedine Günther studied art at the HFBK in Hamburg and is a contemporary artist. She is responsible for the conceptual design of our international exhibitions and fairs, the layout of our publications and all creative aspects of our company.

Dr. Sara Öberg Strådal
Managing Director
Dr Sara Öberg Strådal is an art historian and expert in medieval scientific and medical images and diagrams (MPhil and PhD, University of Glasgow). Her previous work at the Fitzwilliam Museum, University of Cambridge and, most recently, as a Getty/ACLS Research Fellow focused on volvelles and the circulation of interactive diagrams in manuscripts, print and other media.

Dr. Mireia Castaño
Head of Academic Relations and Research
Mireia Castaño holds a Ph.D in Art History from the University of Geneva, with an expertise in French and Spanish 15th century art. With an interdisciplinary background in Medieval Literature, she takes care of the study and cataloguing of Dr. Jörn Günther’s manuscripts. She is the author of the monography of the Master of the Vienna Roman de la Rose (2022).

Dr. Ina Nettekoven
Freelance researcher, specialist in medieval manuscripts
Ina Nettekoven is an art historian specialising in illuminated manuscripts and early illustrated printed books. Much of her research is focused on the media shift caused by Gutenberg and his revolutionary invention and on the ensuing reaction of manuscript production (Ph.D., Free University Berlin). She researches and describes manuscripts and miniatures.

Dr. Elisabeth Wingerter
Public Relations and Marketing Manager
Dr Elisabeth Wingerter is a historian specialized in post-conflict law and justice. She holds a PhD from the University of Luxembourg and a MA from New York University and has previously worked on PR campaigns both inside and outside academia. She is responsible for outreach and marketing at Jörn Günther Rare Books.

Flavia Lamprecht
Project Manager
Flavia Lamprecht is a cultural scientist and art historian (M.A., Humboldt University of Berlin) with extensive expertise in project management and communications. She is collaborating with us on our upcoming exhibitions through the summer of 2025.

Moritz Herzog
Photographer
Moritz Herzog has a lifelong interest in both art and photography. For four years he specialised in photography of art objects at Koller Auktionen. In 2012, he founded his own studio in Basel and is also responsible for capturing and (high)lighting the artworks in our inventory.
