Dr. Timothy Bolton & Dr. Mireia Castaño

Our new digital publication, “London Calling”, written by Dr. Timothy Bolton and Dr. Mireia Castaño, introduces manuscripts that illustrate striking connections between the history of the illuminated book and the history of the British Isles. This publication takes you on a journey to the Arthurian tales that became English master narratives, to the impact of the Norman Conquest on book production, to the scriptoria of British monasteries, as well as to the workshops of England’s greatest artists. Lastly, the publication presents magnificent tomes exemplifying the tastes and obsessions of English book collecting from the 16th century onwards.
